FELLOWSHIP IN ARTHROPLASTY

MGA Medical Global Academy’s Fellowship in Arthroplasty is a course for orthopedic surgeons aiming to develop their expertise in reconstructive orthopedic surgery and joint replacement. The 12-month scheme involves a mix of evidence-based learning, surgical exposure, advanced surgical techniques, and mentorship from experienced surgeons, enhancing clinical decision-making and precision in arthroplasty procedures. The fellowship offers extensive training in the fields of primary and revision arthroplasty (hip, knee, shoulder and elbow), robotic-assisted surgery, implant technology, peri-operative care, rehabilitation and complication management, to provide high-quality orthopaedic and joint reconstruction care.

Skills You Will Gain

• Arthroplasty principles, biomechanics of joint replacement, patient selection, surgical planning and Peri-operative optimization.

• Understanding in revision shoulder and hip surgery, and complex acetabular and femoral reconstruction.

• Total knee arthroplasty (TKA), Revision knee replacement, Ligament balancing, Deformity correction, Robotic knee surgery.

• Knowledge of shoulder and elbow arthroplasty such as primary shoulder and elbow replacement and shoulder and elbow revision surgery and rehabilitation.

• Familiarity with cutting-edge technologies such as robotic surgery, AI planning, custom implants and 3D printing prosthetics.

• Management of arthroplasty complications such as infection, instability, periprosthetic fracture, implant loosening and bone loss.

• Exposure to trauma related arthroplasty, fracture reconstruction, paediatric arthroplasty, complex revision surgery.

• Post-operative rehabilitation protocols and functional recovery assessment as well as long-term implant survivorship monitoring.

• Judgement regarding implant materials and fixation (ceramic, polyethylene and metal-on-metal systems).

• Clinical research skills development, evidence-based orthopedic practice, academic writing, multidisciplinary collaboration and patient centered orthopedic care.
