Program overview
The Fellowship in Bone Marrow Transplant is an intensive program of 12 months focused on the advanced transplant medicine and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. The programme’s key features are structured online learning, case-based discussions, clinical training and mentorship from experts to build advanced skills in donor selection, stem cell collection, conditioning regimens, transplant procedures, graft-versus-host disease management, immune reconstitution and post-transplant care. Extensive exposure to autologous, allogeneic, haploidentical and cord blood transplantation, as well as new cellular therapies, like CAR-T cell therapy and precision medicine approaches. The programme provides fellows the clinical, scientific and research skills necessary to manage complex transplant cases and to help bridge the gap in hematology, oncology and regenerative medicine.
Skills You Will Gain
In-depth knowledge of the biology of haematopoietic stem cells, transplant immunology and haematologic malignancies.
Knowledge of patient selection, donor evaluation, HLA matching, and assessment of transplant eligibility.
Proficiency in techniques for mobilisation, harvesting, processing, preservation and transplantation of stem cells.
Understanding of allogeneic, haploidentical and autologous and umbilical cord blood transplantation procedures.
Experience in preparation and conditioning protocols for transplants.
In-depth knowledge of the prevention, diagnosis and management of acute and chronic graft-versus-host disease (GVHD).
Appreciation of immune reconstitution, infection prevention, antimicrobial stewardship and long-term monitoring of transplants.
Knowledge of handling complications of the transplant such as organ toxicity, failure of engraftment, cytopenias, and post-transplant malignancies.
Understanding of advanced cell therapeutic technologies such as CAR-T cell therapy, NK-cell therapies, and the newer immunotherapeutic technologies.
Knowledge of molecular diagnostics, minimal residual disease (MRD) monitoring, genomic profiling and transplant care based on biomarkers.
