Program overview
The Fellowship in Robotic Urology is a fully-fledged 12-month advanced training program geared towards providing urologists with in-depth knowledge and experience in robotic-assisted and minimally invasive urologic surgery. The programme integrates online learning, simulation training, live surgical demonstrations, clinical observations and mentorship to cultivate advanced skills in robotic prostatectomy, nephrectomy, cystectomy and pyeloplasty, reconstructive urology and uro-oncologic surgery. Participants have a wealth of exposure to state-of-the-art robotic surgical systems, cutting-edge imaging modalities, perioperative management, and evidence-based surgical techniques, which will allow them to be able to perform complex urologic procedures with greater precision, safety, and clinical outcomes. The programme will train fellows to be future leaders in the field of rapidly changing robotic and minimally invasive urologic surgery.
Skills You Will Gain
High level knowledge of robotic surgical systems, instrumentation and minimally invasive surgery principles.
Knowledge of patient selection, pre-operative assessment, surgical planning and peri-operative management.
Ability to navigate the robotic console, dock, position the port, use instruments and understand the robotic surgical ergonomics.
Practical training in robotic radical prostatectomy, partial and radical nephrectomy and robotic cystectomy.
Experience with robotic reconstructive surgery including pyeloplasty, ureteral reconstruction and urinary diversion.
Expertise in managing urologic cancers with robotics, and complex uro-oncologic cases.
Advanced imaging technologies, image guided navigation, augmented reality and fluorescence-guided surgery knowledge.
Knowledge of intraoperative and postoperative complications in the surgical procedure and their management in robotic surgery.
Knowledge and skill of robotic suturing, knot-tying, tissue handling, hemostasis and advanced reconstructive techniques.
Awareness of enhanced recovery protocols (ERAS), pain management and postoperative rehabilitation strategies.
Knowledge of paediatric robotic urology and its particular applications in congenital and functional urologic problems.
Experts with a wide range of skills in multidisciplinary treatment planning, combined with robotic surgery, oncology/immunotherapy/radionuclides treatment/and personalized medicine.
Understanding in the field of tele-mentoring and remote surgical guidance, new robotic technologies, artificial intelligence and future innovations in robot surgery.
Healthcare Economics Knowledge, Knowledge of Robotic Surgery Program Development, Quality Improvement Knowledge and Knowledge of Patient Safety Frameworks.
