Program overview

The Fellowship in Interventional Neurology is a twelve-month advanced training program in the diagnosis, evaluation and endovascular management of neurovascular disorders. The curriculum highlights neurovascular anatomy, pathophysiology of stroke, neuroimaging, diagnostic neuroangiography, mechanical thrombectomy, aneurysm management, AVM (arteriovenous malformation), neurocritical care, pediatric neurointervention, spinal vascular diseases, and emerging technologies in neurointervention. Participants acquire knowledge of current neurointerventional therapies, best evidence-based treatment, multiscale patient management, and innovative technologies affecting the future of cerebrovascular medicine through structured online education, expert-led sessions, case-based discussions, clinical experience, and research-based education.

Skills You Will Gain

  • Refined knowledge of neurovascular anatomy and physiology, and mechanisms of stroke.

  • Familiarity with the basics of diagnostic neuro-imaging such as CT, CTA, MRI, MRA, Digital subtraction angiography (DSA).

  • Awareness of acute ischemic stroke assessment, triage and evidence based treatment pathways.

  • Knowledge of neuroangiography diagnostic principles, catheter manoeuvre and vascular access.

  • Understanding of endovascular stroke therapy, cerebral aneurysm treatment, arteriovenous malformation (AVM) treatment and arteriovenous fistula (AVF) treatment.

  • Knowledge of neurocritical care principles, chemotherapy monitoring and peri-procedural patient management.

  • Interpretation of neurovascular imaging and evaluation of treatment options for complex cerebrovascular disease.

  • Understanding of head, neck, spine, paediatric and trauma related neurovascular interventions.

  • Knowledge of antiplatelet agents, management of anticoagulation, and knowledge of complications in neurointerventional practice.

  • Knowledge of current technologies such as AI, robotics, high-tech neurovascular devices and digital health innovations.

  • Improved clinical thinking, team working and evidence-based decision making.

  • Ethical, medico-legal and professional awareness in the care of patients receiving a neurointervention.
