Program overview
The Advanced Training Fellowship in High Risk Pregnancy aims to broaden knowledge and clinical reasoning in the assessment, monitoring and management of complicated maternal and foetal conditions, and is offered for a duration of 12 months. Students will learn about maternal medical disorders, fetal complications, obstetric emergencies, critical care during pregnancy and delivery, prenatal diagnosis, advanced fetal imaging, labor and delivery management, postpartum management, mental health in pregnancy, public health, and new and emerging innovations in maternal-fetal medicine. The participants learn about the latest trends in the management of high-risk pregnancy, multi-disciplinary management models and international best practices in maternal and fetal health through structured online learning, expert-led sessions, case based discussions, clinical exposure and evidence-based education.
Skills You Will Gain
Developed knowledge of maternal/foetal physiology and the assessment of high risk pregnancies.
Understanding of identifying and managing maternal medical diseases in pregnancy such as hypertension, diabetes, cardiac, renal and autoimmune diseases.
Awareness of fetal growth restriction, fetal anomalies, multiple pregnancies and prenatal diagnosis.
Interpretation skills of foetal monitoring instruments, Doppler studies, cardiotocography (CTG) and obstetric imaging.
Awareness of evidence-based management strategies for preterm labour, placenta related disorders, obstetric bleeding and pregnancy complications.
Knowledge of the principles of critical care in obstetrics including maternal stabilisation and multi-disciplinary management.
Knowledge of advanced fetal imaging and genetic screening and diagnostic procedures.
Understanding of labor and delivery management in a high risk pregnancy environment.
Awareness about postnatal surveillance, long term maternal health issues, and follow-up.
Knowledge of mental health problems, psychosocial support and counseling during pregnancy.
Understanding of telemedicine, digital health tools and emerging technologies in MFM.
