Medical Global Academy

Program overview

The Fellowship in Vascular Surgery is a 1-year advanced training programme to further develop knowledge and clinical understanding of the diagnosis, evaluation and management of vascular diseases. Topics range from arterial and venous disorders to endovascular interventions, aortic surgery, carotid surgery, vascular trauma, dialysis access procedures, diabetic vascular disease and new technologies in vascular surgery. The structured online learning, expert-led sessions, case-based discussions, clinical exposure and exposure to cutting-edge technology in imaging, pharmacology, research, digital technology and vascular health prepare participants for the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to understand current vascular surgery practice and evidence-based treatment approaches, and to recognise the importance of multidisciplinary patient management and advances in imaging, pharmacology, research and digital technology within the field of vascular health.

Skills You Will Gain

  • Diagnosis and management of arterial, venous and lymphatic disorders.

  • Knowledge of the different vascular imaging modalities such as Duplex ultrasound, CT angiography, MR angiography and intravascular ultrasound.

  • Awareness of endovascular techniques like angioplasty, stenting, endovenous treatments and repair of aneurysms.

  • Understanding of open vascular surgical principles and management of complex vascular problems.

  • Ability to evaluate and treat peripheral arterial disease, carotid artery disease, aortic aneurysms and chronic venous disorders.

  • Knowledge of the principles of vascular care in the event of vascular trauma.

  • Knowledge of dialysis access surgery and management of renal vascular disorders.

  • Understanding of vascular disease management in high-risk, elderly, and diabetic patients.

  • Knowledge of vascular pharmacology, anti-thrombotic drugs and medical management principles.

  • Understanding of new technologies such as robotic surgery, cutting-edge graft technology, artificial intelligence, and precision medicine for vascular care.

  • Improved clinical judgment, evaluation of patients, and evidence-based decision making.
