About the Programme

The PG Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Medical Global Academy is a 12-month programme for eligible medical graduates who want structured, current competence in women's health — and who need to build it without stepping away from clinical work. The curriculum runs the full arc of obstetric and gynaecological practice. On the obstetric side: preconception counselling, antenatal assessment, the physiology of normal pregnancy, recognition and management of antenatal complications, labour and delivery, obstetric emergencies, and postpartum care. On the gynaecological side: menstrual and endocrine disorders, benign and malignant conditions of the reproductive tract, contraception, infertility and reproductive endocrinology, pelvic health, and the principles underlying gynaecological surgery. Teaching is case-based. Each module works from presentation to assessment to decision, framed against current national and international guidance, so that participants build reasoning they can apply the following morning in OPD — not a set of facts to be recalled for an examination. The programme is delivered online, with live sessions held in the evening after routine OPD hours and every session recorded for later review. Participants who cannot attend live do not fall behind.

"The PG Diploma & Fellowship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology will enable you to become a confident, skilled healthcare professional possessing strong clinical expertise, practical exposure, and the capability to handle critical care patients effectively in contemporary healthcare environments."

PG Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynaecology

Outcome of the Programme

On completion, participants will be able to:

  • Conduct structured antenatal assessment, identify risk factors early, and plan care accordingly across all three trimesters.
  • Recognise and outline evidence-based management for common antenatal complications, including anaemia, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, gestational diabetes and intrauterine growth restriction.
  • Interpret fetal surveillance — cardiotocography, the partograph, and routine obstetric ultrasound reports — and identify findings that change management.
  • Describe the physiology and management of normal labour, recognise deviation from the expected course, and outline the principles governing operative delivery.
  • Respond to obstetric emergencies including postpartum haemorrhage, eclampsia, shoulder dystocia, cord prolapse and obstetric collapse, with a clear understanding of initial stabilisation and escalation.
  • Provide structured postpartum care, including recognition of maternal complications and appropriate contraceptive counselling.
  • Evaluate and manage common gynaecological presentations — abnormal uterine bleeding, pelvic pain, vaginal discharge, amenorrhoea and menopausal symptoms.
  • Apply current understanding of polycystic ovary syndrome, endometriosis, uterine fibroids and pelvic inflammatory disease to clinical decisions.
  • Counsel patients on contraceptive options and initiate appropriate methods within their scope of practice.
  • Explain the principles of cervical cancer screening and describe the national screening approach.
  • Outline the initial evaluation of the infertile couple and explain when specialist referral is indicated.
  • Describe the indications and principles behind common gynaecological procedures, including minimally invasive approaches.
  • Apply relevant Indian medico-legal frameworks — including the PCPNDT Act and the MTP Act — to everyday obstetric and gynaecological practice.
  • Appraise clinical guidance from bodies such as WHO, FIGO, FOGSI and RCOG, and apply it to individual patients
